Another term for CBD oil is hemp oil, but do not get it confused with hemp SEED oil. Hemp seed oil and CBD oil are very different products. Before we get into the differences in the oils, the main thing to note is that hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the cannabis sativa plant while CBD oil is made from the stalks, leaves and flowers of the hemp plant.

It is important to note that hemp seeds do not contain CBD. Instead, they are rich in fatty acids and other nutrients that have their own set of health benefits. Each oil has its own set of unique benefits, so we will discuss those further so you can decide which is better for you.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil, which is derived from cannabis seeds contain:

  •         Nutritional antioxidants
  •         Omega-6
  •         Omega-3 fatty acids
  •         Vitamin D
  •         Vitamin B
  •         Gamma-linolenic acid

Hemp seed oil is added to nutritional products such as bars, yogurts, and breads due to its nutritional properties. It is super good for you and is often consumed for its antioxidant and antiaging effects. It can also provide the following benefits when ingested:

  •         Cardiovascular benefits
  •         Improving skin conditions
  •         Relieving symptoms of constipation
  •         Improves gastrointestinal conditions
  •         Modifies the immune system
  •         Anticancer effects

It does not contain THC and is completely safe to take.

CBD Oil

CBD oil (or hemp oil) is made from the flower, stalks, and leaves of the hemp plant. There are three different forms of CBD oil, which is important to note when purchasing:

  • Full-spectrum CBD oil: this contains all the compounds of the cannabis plant, not just CBD. This means that it also contains trace amounts of THC. When combined, the compounds create what is knowns as the entourage effect and they work together to maximize the benefits.
  • Broad-spectrum CBD oil: this form also contains additional compounds found in the cannabis plant such as terpenes, which are the compounds responsible for the way the cannabis tastes and smells. The difference is it should not contain THC.
  • CBD oil made from CBD isolate: this type of oil is pure CBD and does not contain any other cannabis compounds. During the manufacturing process, it is stripped of all other compounds. It is important to note that the entourage effect will not be present in CBD oil from an isolate, so the effects may not be as strong.

CBD oil is known for several healing effects and can be used for:

  •         Epilepsy – it helps with seizures
  •         Pain relief
  •         Helps with inflammation
  •         Helps with mood disorders and anxiety and depression
  •         Helps with skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema

Hemp seed oil and CBD oil are both derived from the hemp plant and both have health benefits. However, they are NOT the same.
