What Is CBD?

The study also considered past research between 1975 and 2018 and concluded that CBD is indeed effective at pain management. They also had little evidence of negative side effects.
This means that if you have an autoimmune disease, like rheumatoid arthritis; neuropathic pain from diabetes; migraine pain; cancer pain and negative side effects from chemotherapy; or even muscular pain from sports or injuries, CBD can reduce the overall amount of pain you are experiencing.
How Can I Administer CBD?
There are plenty of CBD products to try, depending on what you are trying to treat. There are advantages and disadvantages to each type.
• Orally. There are many ways to take CBD orally, whether that is via capsules, sublingual (under the tongue) tinctures, sprays, food and liquids. When swallowed, absorption is relatively slow and has a delayed onset of about 2 hours. You can also take CBD sublingually with a spray or tincture for quicker effects (usually felt within 15-45 minutes).
• Topically. Lotions, balms, and salves infused with CBD can be excellent for direct application to arthritic joints or skin conditions. Most topical creams can be purchased over-the-counter and contain capsaicin, camphor, or menthol.
• Inhaled. CBD can be inhaled by vaporizing. The downside is that inhalants over have chemical by-products that can be harmful, particularly for people suffering from autoimmune diseases or pulmonary diseases.
How Much Should I Use?
There are currently no established guidelines for how much CBD oil someone should take. However, many organizations that are backing the use of CBD oil have provided advice for figuring out the dose that is ideal for your pain.
You can also get advice from a medical practitioner about how much to take. Be prepared to do some maths either way. For instance, you might hear from your doctor that 30mg of CBD a day is perfect. Depending on how you want to administer CBD, the amount you use at one time is going to change.
You can usually read the supplement facts on the label to see if its 10mg per capsule or 3mg per edible gummy. From there, do some arithmetic to go a total of 30mg of CBD.
If you plan on using a topical cream, you will the total amount of CBD listed on the container. You will need to divide the total amount of the product by the amount of CBD it contains. For example, if you have a 40ml jar of salve that has 200mg of CBD, then there is 5mg per ml.
Tips For Trying CBD For The First Time
If you suffer from chronic pain and want to add CBD to your regimen, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting. Once you have been cleared, consider the following advice for starting CBD:
• Buy from reputable sources. Like most vitamins and supplements available in the UK, you will find some CBD goods that are not regulated by the NHS. Always look for products that have been tested by reputable third parties so you don’t end up with a low quality item.
• Know the consumption methods. If you are looking for pain relief, you should know that pills and capsules are slow release while tinctures are made for a faster onset.
• Avoid smoking and vaping. Vaping can harm the lungs, so if you have a lung disease, don’t do it.
• Keep the dosage low. When first starting out, you should always start with a low dose, around 5mg, and then slowly increase the dosage over the next few weeks. Be sure to track your symptoms and the effect of the CBD oil is having. This will help you fine tune your treatment.
